Oats Street Station Precinct Planning

After the Oats Street Station Precinct was identified in State and Local Government planning frameworks as having the potential for greater development, The Town of Victoria Park (The Town) worked towards creating an Oats Street Station Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) for the area. However, following recent announcements from State Government, further Oats Street Station PSP specific works are to cease as a result of the Station Precincts Improvement Plan and Improvement Scheme initiative.

The initiative will see State Government take a lead role in coordinating planning and development across ten train station precincts through the introduction of improvement plans and improvement schemes. Stations Oats Street Station and Carlisle Station, within The Town's boundary, will form one of the ten station precincts (Fig 1).

Whilst the Oats Street Station PSP works have ceased, the Town understands that existing work completed will not be discarded and will be considered in the initiative going forward, though full details are yet to be determined.

What has happened so far and what next?

The Oats Street Station Precinct Planning Timeline', adjacent, outlines the works previously completed for the Oats Street Station PSP, as well as the latest key events on the Station Precincts Improvement Plan and Improvement Scheme. At the time of writing, mid-March 2026, The Town is awaiting an official response to its latest correspondence and further information on the initiative.
