Oats Street Station Precinct Planning
The Town of Victoria Park has started an exciting new project to look at the future planning for areas around the Oats Street station. The Oats Street Station Precinct has been identified in State and Local Government planning frameworks as having the potential for greater development. In light of this, the Town is investigating opportunities for growth, redevelopment and improvement. The project aims to capitalise on the transformation of the Oats Street station and new linear parkland under the elevated rail, the community activity associated with Aqualife and TAFE and the potential for redevelopment of the light industry / service commercial area in the future.
The indicative Precinct Structure Plan boundary is shown below.
The Council endorsed a Preferred Growth Scenario at the 21 / 23 May 2024 Council meeting. The Preferred Growth Scenario is a refinement of the two advertised growth scenarios and based on feedback from community and stakeholders, including the Department for Planning, Lands and Heritage. See the Resources box on the right side of this page to view the Preferred Scenario.
The Preferred Growth Scenario outlined proposed broad changes to the local planning framework (ie. zones, density, building heights / setbacks, land uses). It forms the basis of a detailed statutory Precinct Structure Plan and Planning Scheme Amendment currently being prepared.
The draft Precinct Structure Plan and Planning Scheme Amendment will be presented to Council in late 2024 seeking their permission to advertise the plans for further community and stakeholder comment.
