City of South Perth and Town of Victoria Park Joint Bike Plan

Consultation has concluded

The Town of Victoria Park and the City of South Perth have embarked on a joint effort to deliver a comprehensive bike plan for the community by 2018.

The plan aims to understand the needs of the cycling community and seek to further develop the existing cycling infrastructure. We want to make the cycling network and facilities better connected across the two local government areas, which will make cycling safer and more convenient.

The councils appointed a common consultant to undertake the development of the bike plan, which includes research into the current situation, a gap analysis and best practice solutions suitable for our local community.

The Town of Victoria Park and City of South Perth undertook community engagement in 2017, including three community workshops, two stakeholder focus groups, a number of stakeholder interviews, an online and hardcopy survey completed by 349 people, a mapping exercise completed by 239 and 951 people informed of the project. The feedback received has helped to inform the draft Joint Bike Plan.

What is happening now?

At the Town's Ordinary Council Meeting on the 10 July 2018, Council adopted the City of South Perth and Town of Victoria Park Joint Bike Plan.

Thank you to all of our community who participated in the development of the plan.

Safe Cycling Project Mapping

over 7 years

How can we improve roads and paths so more people ride in the Town of Victoria Park?

The Town of Victoria Park and the City of South Perth are working on a new joint Bike Plan 2018, which we hope will encourage more people to ride bicycles as a travel choice.

We want to develop a more connected bicycle network, improving links to existing routes and making cycling more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The online mapping tool gives you the opportunity to comment on locations where bicycle or shared path infrastructure are required or can be improved.

We want to know:

  • Issues and challenges (red pin). This may include locations where there is/are missing link/s, unsafe crossing/s, no lights, etc
  • Existing notable and safe cycling areas (green pin). This may include locations that are enjoyable to ride, have great end of trip facilities (i.e. bicycle parking, lockers, showers) or notable for other reasons.
  • Bike Idea (yellow pin)/ This may include locations that are not necessary unsafe or an issue, however would like to see an improvement.

Try adding a pin!
