McCallum Park and Taylor Reserve river edge detailed design

Consultation has concluded

In 2015, the Town of Victoria Park developed a Foreshore Access and Management Plan, which provided a framework to take a coordinated and consistent approach to foreshore management in the Town. In partnership with stakeholders, the aim is to improve the environmental, recreational and aesthetic amenity of the asset, as well as improve accessibility for the community.

Working in accordance with the Foreshore Access and Management Plan, the Town recently developed the Taylor Reserve and McCallum Park Concept Plan. This was endorsed by Council in March 2018.

The views of our community and other stakeholders were a vital part in enabling us to critically review and prepare the concept plan for Taylor Reserve and McCallum Park.

Building on the concept plan, the Town is now progressing the next element of the design project, which is detailed design for the river edge treatment.

What's happening now?

The McCallum Park and Taylor Reserve river edge detailed design was endorsed by council at it’s Ordinary Council Meeting in June 2018. Thank you to everyone that was involved.

Seems pretty light on for the detailed design stage. Ensure tree species are appropriate for riverine environment whilst still providing enough shade and shelter for those running, cycling, picnicking in the area. Unsure when future upgrade stage will occur so recommend the chain mesh fencing be replaced with nice metal infill rail fencing or timber fencing consistent with limestone and riverine environment if it will be there for more than a year. Future stage area will likely be most in view from causeway - key transit node from Perth airport and on foot to Perth stadium so want to ensure it looks presentable in the interim until future works are undertaken.
