Communication and Engagement Policy and Management Practice

Consultation has concluded

We’ve developed a draft Communication and Engagement Policy and Management Practice with the aim of merging two existing policies for consultation and public participation, and incorporating communication elements.

We feel communication and engagement go hand in hand. Good communication is about clearly conveying information between an individual or organisation and its stakeholders (employees, community, customers, industry, government etc) to raise awareness, spark an interest and educate, whilst engagement is about consulting and collaborating with our stakeholders in the problem solving or decision-making process. It focuses more on listening, considering feedback and working together to reach better outcomes.

Following the adoption of our Strategic Community Plan in 2017, the Town spent 2018 focusing on ways to improve and embed its engagement practices within the organisation. Now in 2019, we want to review the existing policies and practices and adapt to our progressive community and organisation.
