State Street Traffic Calming

Consultation has concluded

The Town of Victoria Park is currently exploring a range of traffic calming measures in State Street between Gloucester Street and Berwick Street. A Petition was received on the 3rd November 2017 signed by 55 residents in State Street expressing their concerns on vehicle speeds, cut-through traffic and safety of children crossing State Street.

Council at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on the 12 December 2017 resolved to:

  1. Council receives the petition submitted regarding the installation of traffic calming treatments on State Street.
  2. The Chief Executive Officer be instructed to consult with the residents of State Street (between Gloucester Street and Berwick Street) and the lead petitioner on various traffic calming measures to alleviate concerns related to vehicle speeds and presents a report on the findings to the Ordinary Council Meeting to be held on 13 March 2018.

Given the potential impacts of this initiative, the introduction of traffic calming measures in an isolated road section may subsequently redirect traffic to other adjacent parallel streets in the area. To gain an understanding of views and to acknowledge and listen to concerns, the Town wants to hear from residents residing on State Street, Tuam Street and Rathay Street.
