FAQs
What is Social Infrastructure?
Social infrastructure includes the facilities, spaces, programs, services and networks that maintain and improve the quality of life in a community and plays a key role in encouraging people to live in or visit an area.
What is the Social Infrastructure Strategy?
The Social Infrastructure Strategy 2021 provides a strategic approach for the Town to plan, deliver and manage social infrastructure based on forecast population growth.
The Social Infrastructure Strategy aims to ensure that all residents of the Town can enjoy access to safe, welcoming and diverse social infrastructure spaces that support a diverse range of activities to build a stronger community for everyone.
What happens with my submission after the advertising period closes?
The Town will analyse all submissions and where appropriate make modifications to the Social Infrastructure Strategy.
A schedule of submissions (de-identified) and recommended changes will be presented to a Council meeting in considering the strategy for final adoption. This is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2022.
When will the recommended Social Infrastructure Strategy actions be implemented?
The Social Infrastructure Strategy details a total of 70 initiatives that are recommended for implementation from now to 7+ years into the future.
While the Strategy assigns priority, indicative timeframes and costs for each initiative, the actions are not a prescriptive list. Once adopted the exact form and timing of each initiative will be informed by the Town’s ongoing evaluation of social infrastructure needs to allow for effective flexibility and responsiveness for implementing the actions.
