To deliver the Town of Victoria Park's Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project, a partnership was formed between the Town, West Coast Eagles, Wirrpanda Foundation and Perth Football Club.
One of the agreed outcomes of the partnership is to produce a Community Benefits Strategy, which delivered in partnership, will underpin the commitment of the project partners to the community.
The aims of the Community Benefits Strategy are to deliver lifelong learning opportunities, empower local community members, improve local amenities, and foster leaders and encourage collaboration. This partnership is an innovative way to utilise the individual strengths of all project partners for the benefit of the Town of Victoria Park community.
The Community Benefits Strategy will also guarantee the employment of two full-time positions to implement initiatives, which will be supported by 100 hours of West Coast Eagles player involvement per year.
What is happening now?
Having received valued feedback from the community the project partners are now preparing detailed design of the selected programs. These will be developed for the first five years and start being delivered shortly.
