Community Benefits Strategy

in 2019, a partnership was formed between the Town of Victoria Park, West Coast Eagles (WCE), Waalitj (formerly Wirrpanda) Foundation and Perth Football Club to deliver socially focused programs under a Community Benefit Strategy.

The strategy is a core part of the 99-year lease which was offered to WCE and Waalitj Foundation upon their relocation to, and development of, Mineral Resources Park in Lathlain, intended as an innovative way to use the individual strengths of all partner organisations for the benefit of the Town of Victoria Park community.

Among the aims of the Community Benefits Strategy are to deliver lifelong learning opportunities, empowerment of local community members, improvements to local amenities, fostering of leaders and to encourage collaboration, with 100 hours of West Coast Eagles player involvement also set aside for Town initiatives each year.

Devised to stay in place for the full term of the WCE lease, the Community Benefit Strategy is to be renewed every five years.

What is happening now?

We now find ourselves embarking on the second five-year term (2025-2029) of the strategy, but we need your input before we finalise our approach.

The first Community Benefits Strategy was developed after extensive community engagement which informed the selection of the following four program areas:

  • Youth Engagement

  • Healthy Relationships Awareness

  • Local Community Organisation Support

  • Recreational and Sports Club Development

These programs were reviewed in 2024 to ensure they remained aligned with community priorities as defined by the Town’s Strategic Community Plan, and are reflected in the current draft strategy for the five years ahead.

The survey at the bottom of this page seeks to evaluate our community's views of these programs, and to offer the opportunity to suggest other areas of focus.

Survey closes 5pm Wednesday 26 March
