What streets are included in the plan?

All streets contained within the project area are:.

    • Burswood Road (including very small parts of the intersecting side roads at Howick, Benporath, Egham, Leigh, Kitchener).
    • Teddington Road (to Shepperton Road)
    • Twickenham Road  (to Shepperton Road)
    • Asquith Street  (to Shepperton Road)
    • Craig Street  (to Shepperton Road)
    • Thorogood Street
    • Hawthorne Place

How will the Town fund the upgrades?

Costs associated with the upgrade of streetscapes are usually the responsibility of the Town. except for potentially part of the underground power costs, should the project meet Western Power's eligibility criteria (currently being investigated).

Preliminary estimates of the plan range between $5 million to $8 million plus (depending on extent of upgrades and quality of materials etc).  This plan represents a significant investment for the Town and as such, it is recommended the plan be implemented over a 10 year period (or thereabouts).

The Plan recommends a separate Funding Strategy be prepared (refer to Implementation Chapter) to investigate potential funding sources in more detail.  The Funding Strategy will be presented to Elected Members for their consideration and will guide funds being set aside in the Town's Long-Term Financial Plan for carrying out the plan.

The Funding Strategy will also investigate potential contributions from landowners through a future Development (Infrastructure) Contributions Plan where contribution payments are collected through development approvals in accordance with State Planning Policy 3.6 Development Contributions or other contributions mechanisms available under the Town’s rating system.

When will the plan be implemented / works commence?

The plan outlines concept designs.  The next stage is preparing a Funding Strategy (which will have some influence the extent and timing of works), securing funding and preparing detailed designs.  This ongoing preparatory work may take several years.  Progress on the project will be updated via the Town's website (refer to Works and Projects page).
