Burswood Peninsula parking management

The survey has now concluded. The Town would like to thank everyone who participated and completed the survey. Town officers will now review the feedback provided by the residents and local business owners/operators and make a report to the council with the results and a recommendation. This process is likely to take approximately 3 months to complete.

In 2018-19 the Town implemented a temporary parking permit system (trial) to assist in the parking management of the Burswood Peninsula area. The permit trial has enabled the Town's Parking Service Area to monitor the impact of the new stadium on neighbouring areas and develop potential parking management solutions for the area.

The Town is now working towards a permanent solution and invites you to select your preferred option from the three proposed parking management options below.

Options
Details
Benefits
Cons
Option 1 - Permit Parking
  • Estimated $50 per year, payable by applicable residents, subject to council endorsement, to recover the cost of administration
  • Permits limited to one specific vehicle per residence
  • Permits linked to specific streets within the Peninsula
  • Permits will only be valid/required on days where there are events at Optus Stadium
  • Discourage stadium patrons parking in the area on event days
  • Discourage commuter parking in the area on event days
  • Limited parking restriction on non-event days
  • Cost to residents
  • Restrictive - one specific vehicle per residence, street specific
  • Permits would not guarantee a parking bay
  • Permits do not exempt other parking restrictions
  • Signage may be confusing
Option 2 -
Time parking restrictions
  • Proposed restrictions would be two hours (2P) Monday – Sunday 8 am – 8 pm to align with the existing timed parking restrictions in the Circus area.
  • Parking availability
  • Discourage stadium patrons parking in the area
  • Discourage commuter parking in the area
  • No fee applicable on-street parking
  • All streets will have parking restrictions seven days a week
  • Inconvenience to visitors, trades, and employees due to parking fees
Option 3 -
Minimal restrictions
  • Current parking restriction without permit parking
  • Support businesses in the area
  • No fees applicable for parking on-street
  • No timed restrictions excluding The Circus area
  • Parking may be used by stadium patrons
  • Parking may be used by commuters
