EAST VICTORIA PARK – No.10 (Lot 139) Swansea Street – Change of Use to Residential Building (short term accommodation)

Consultation has concluded

The Town has received a development application for Change of Use to Residential Building (short term accommodation).

By way of clarification, a ‘Residential Building’ refers to any form of accommodation other than ‘Dwelling’. In this instance, the ‘Residential Building’ is short-stay accommodation (eg. An ‘Air BnB’) that was approved by the Town in January 2018. This approval was time-limited, meaning that after one year had passed – the adjoining neighbours could be consulted to see if it had been operating without significant or frequent complaints. Effectively, the initial period of operation has been a trial period for the short stay accommodation at the above-mentioned property.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy 37 – “Community Consultation on Planning Proposals”, you are invited to comment on the following matters:

  • Proposed Use – A Residential Building is classified as an “AA” (discretionary use) within the Residential zone under Town Planning Scheme No. 1.
