The Town has received a development application for the construction of a Child Care Premises.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy – Community Consultation on Planning Proposals, you are invited to comment on the following matters:

  • Proposed Use - A ‘Child Care Premises’ is classified as an “AA” (discretionary use) within the Residential zone under Town Planning Scheme No. 1.
  • Street Setback - Town Planning Scheme No. 1 requires a minimum street setback of 3 metres and an average setback of 6 metres from Camberwell Street. The application proposes a minimum setback to 2.75 metres and an average of 8.38 metres to Camberwell Street.
  • Building Height - The Residential Design Codes permits a wall height of 6 metres and a pitched roof height of 9 metres. The proposed building has a maximum building height of 6.3 metre wall height and 7.25 metre pitched roof height.
  • Landscaping - The Town’s Local Planning Policy No. 6 – Family Day Care and Child Care Premises requires a 1.5 metre landscaping strip to be provided between the car parking bays and the street and 1 tree is required to be provided per 4 car bays. A 1.49 metre wide landscaping strip is proposed between the car bays and Archdeacon Street. No trees are proposed between the car bays.
  • Hours of Operation - The Town’s Local Planning Policy No. 6 – Family Day Care and Child Care Premises permits the hours of operation to be between 7:00am and 7:00pm Monday to Saturday and 9:00am to 5:00pm Sunday. The application proposes 6:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday.
