When will the Town next review Policy 351 Parking Parking permits?
Policy 351 Parking Permits was last reviewed in April 2020 and is next scheduled for review in 2024.
Why is the trial restricted to Willis, Hampshire and Balmoral streets?
The 12-month trial is being applied only to the relevant sections of Willis, Balmoral and Hampshire streets as these were the areas of most concern for residents, as indicated by the number of signatures received from residents of these streets via the petition.
What will happen during the parking trial?
4P timed parking restrictions will be removed in the following streets, as these were the areas of most concern for residents listed in the petition.
Parking in non-signposted areas on these streets will be allowed up to 24 hours.
How long with the trial go for?
These measures will commence 31 August 2023 until 31 August 2024, and will allow unrestricted parking in non-signposted areas up to 24 hours along the listed streets.
What are the consequences of leaving my vehicle parked on the street for more than 24 hours?
If you are parking your vehicle on the street, you need to ensure that it is used daily and not left for longer than 24 hours. Vehicles that have been left in the street, a public place or on local government property for an extended period (over 24 hours in a non-timed parking area) are subject to investigation and potential impounding by the Town’s Rangers. Fines or penalties may apply. For more information, please visit this page.
What will happen during and after the trial?
During the trial period, Town officers will closely monitor the area and gather feedback from both residents and businesses. The aim is to assess the impact and effectiveness of the unrestricted parking initiative.
If the trial proves successful and receives strong support from residents and businesses, the changes may be implemented permanently. However, in the event of increased congestion and opposition from residents regarding unrestricted parking, the Town will consider reinstating the previous 4P timed parking restrictions at the conclusion of the trial
