To support the increase our Town’s tree canopy coverage to 20% we have developed a draft policy that sets out requirements for planting new trees when a development application is submitted.
The aim of the policy is to integrate the planting of trees as an element of new development and encourage land owners to think about the existing trees on their property when planning a development.
This policy is a response to the actions set within the Town's adoptedUrban Forest Strategy.
Where can I view the draft policy?
The draft Local Planning Policy is available to view in the document library and at the Towns Administration building and the library.
What is happening now?
On the 18 February 2020, Council adopted the final modified version of the tree planting and retention policy. A copy of the policy can be found within the document libraryand the February OCM minutes and agenda. The policy will be operational from the 1 July 2020.
