Where is Burswood Station East?
Burswood Station East is bound by the Graham Farmer Freeway, Great Eastern Highway and Victoria Park Drive. Burswood Station East is strategically positioned close to many of Perth’s major tourism and entertainment destinations and is in the prime position to stitch together The Peninsula, The Springs and Crown Perth developments to form an integrated, inviting and comfortable urban setting.

The Burswood peninsula is experiencing an exciting transformation with an expansion to Crown Perth and the new Perth Stadium, and residential communities at the nearby Burswood Peninsula and The Springs.
The Town of Victoria Park, along with the State Government, has helped to drive this change through the development of a robust strategic planning framework in the form of the Burswood District Structure Plan (DSP). The Burswood DSP recognises seven residential and mixed-use neighbourhoods on the peninsula, of which Burswood Station East is one.
Burswood Station East is strategically positioned close to many of Perth’s major tourism and entertainment destinations. It also has the potential to benefit from Perth Airport’s evolution into an international transport hub and the increasingly popular Albany Highway main street in Victoria Park. Burswood Station East is in the prime position to stitch together The Peninsula, The Springs and Crown Perth to form an integrated, inviting and comfortable urban setting and become a central piece of the peninsula’s transformation into Perth’s premier entertainment precinct.
The Town has recognised that these factors have culminated into a unique opportunity to drive Burswood Station East’s regeneration from a predominately service and industrial precinct, into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly transit-oriented development complete with well-designed and high-quality apartments for couples, families and singles. Offices, cafés, shops, entertainment and short-stay accommodation will create activity throughout the day and help Burswood Station East to become a destination in its own right.
What is a place making strategy?
Placemaking is the process through which we work together to shape our public spaces. Rooted in community-based participation, placemaking involves the planning, design, management and programming of shared use spaces. More than just designing spaces, placemaking brings together diverse people (including professionals, elected officials, residents, and businesses) to improve a community’s cultural, economic, social and ecological situation.
The Burswood Station East Placemaking Strategy is the document that outlines any place making findings and actions for the Burswood Station East area.
What will this place making strategy be used for?
The place making strategy will directly inform the Burswood Station East Structure Plan. The structure plan is the document that is used by developers and the Towns planning department to guide development in the area.
Can anyone be involved?
Yes. We are especially interested in hearing from people who live, work and use the space already. However, we know that many of our residents are interested in all development in the Town and we value the community working together, so we are interested in hearing from anyone with an interest in the project.
Why has the Town chosen TPG Place Match to help them prepare this strategy?
As with any local government contract, an unbiased procurement process was undertaken whereby the Town invited a number of different companies to provide a quote for undertaking this work. TPG Place Match provided the most competent response and strongly evidenced their capability in delivering this project within budget and the allocated time frames. The Town has worked with TPG on a number of occasions, but is excited to be working with the new faces of TPG Place Match to deliver this project.
