Town playground upgrades

The Town of Victoria Park upgrades a number of parks and playgrounds in the Council area each year to ensure the community’s playgrounds are well-designed, well-located, safe and fun for users.

As part of this process, we undertake community consultation where there is an opportunity to share your thoughts during the planning phase of the playground.

Project updates

Parnham Reserve - At the Town’s Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM) in December 2019, Councillor Wilfred Hendriks submitted a notice of motion that Council approves the relocation of the children’s playground on Parnham Reserve, currently located on Star Street, to Mercury Street near the club rooms, once the existing playground has reached its service life and is due for replacement. Council resolved to discuss the options for a masterplan for Parnham Park at a Concept Forum in 2020.

As a result of the resolution, the playground upgrade has been placed on hold until this discussion takes places. Regardless of the outcome (playground upgrade or masterplan for the park) feedback received through the playground upgrade project will be utilised.

  • Fraser Park and Fletcher Park get an upgrade

Council is spending $110,000 to upgrade playgrounds in Fletcher Park and Fraser Park.

The works will involve replacing the existing playgrounds, which has been popular and well used for almost 11 years.

As part of the initial planning stage the Town is seeking community feedback and has released two separate surveys for the respective playgrounds. The survey provides guidance for Council to deliver play equipment and other playground features that will provide a practical playground for the community.
