Why are you building a new website?

The Town's current website is built on out-dated technology. Think of it like a house built on a swamp, it looks fine on the outside, but it is sinking a little bit every day. Eventually, as parts of our website fall apart, the technology to fix them doesn't exist anymore. The website also doesn't cater to our community's needs and is hard to navigate. We want to start from scratch and make sure that the new website is user-friendly and contains everything the community needs from the Town's website.

What is a responsive and adaptive website?

38.24% of all people visiting our current website are looking on a mobile device so we are aiming to build a responsive or adaptive website which will work on all platforms.

A responsive website will fluidly change and respond to fit any screen or device size.

An adaptive website will change to fit a predetermined set of screen and device sizes.

What about the mobile website you currently have?

The Town's current mobile website is ineffective and hard to use. We will discontinue the use of the mobile website, and instead build a new website that is responsive or adaptive to mobile devices.

How much will the new website cost?

The Council has allocated $130,000 in the 2015-2016 budget for the development of a new corporate website. This will cover the cost of any community consultation, tender process, development and design of the new site, and the roll-out of the completed website.
