The Town has received a development application for Construction of 8 Temporary Dwellings of ‘Residential Building’ Use.

  • A total of 8 self-contained units measuring 30m2 and each comprising a bedroom, kitchen, living and bathroom space. Four shared car bays, a communal laundry and storeroom are also proposed.
  • The units are intended to provide accommodation for over-55 homeless women for a period of six months or more.
  • Foundation Housing will be the manager of the property and tenancies. The organisation has extensive policies and procedures in place which span all stages of tenancy and property management, and which are currently used across its portfolio of low-income affordable housing.
  • The applicant is to lease the land from the Western Australian Planning Commission (the owner of the land) for a period of 15 years.
  • A ‘Residential Building’ use is an ‘AA’ (Discretionary) use within a Residential Zone.
